Active Schools Week

Active School Week – 4th – 8th April 2022

‘Téigh amuigh agus bí ag rith!’

Active School’s Week is a big part of our commitment to increased physical education and physical activity for our whole school community as we work towards the goal of Active Flag.  An Active School is one where physical activity is valued, promoted and enjoyed by all so we encourage you also to enter enthusiastically into the spirit of the week. We look forward to welcoming some visitors to the school to bring some new activities and inspiration to the children. We have events planned for each day as follows:-

Mon 4th April Ju-Jitsu with Lyle Gawley.

Local walk for Middle classes

Tue 5th Swimming for Middle and Senior rooms.

Local cross-curricular Welly Walk for Junior Room.

Wed 6th Wednesday Walk to school – Park and Stride.

Modern Dance with Dylan Quinn.

Local walk for Senior classes

Thurs 7th Games and athletics in Templeport G.A.A. grounds coordinated by T.Y. students from St. Mogue’s College.
Fri 8th GAA coaching with Nevin O’Donnell

Whole school Easter Bunny fun with Beat-the-Teacher challenges.

Presentation of prizes and PAWS (Water Safety Programme) Certificates.

In addition to the activities above…

  • We will revive our Daily Mile challenge for the week at 1:50pm each day. We are encouraging each child to set themselves an individual goal for the week.
  • Each classroom will use our newly labelled Active Walkway each day with plenty of interesting activities to stimulate both body and mind.
  • During Lunchbreak children are encouraged to participate in fun games Mon, Wed and Thurs led by our Playground Leaders from the Senior classes – Seán, Séamus, Amy, Megan, Leon, Ruairí.
  • GAA coaching sessions will take place for girls on Tuesday and boys on Friday afternoons in preparation for Cumann na mBunscol competition
