Grandparents’ Day 2026

We celebrated Grandparents Day on January 21st, with a beautiful mass in our school. Refreshments were served afterwards which gave everyone a chance to catch up over a cup of tea. A huge ‘thank you’ to all our grandparents, the wider school community, the school staff, Fr Sean and all our wonderful boys and girls for making it such a special day.

Ballinamore Peace Plus Trip

The boys and girls in junior infants, senior infants and 1st class had a lovely day out in Ballinamore recently with Killeshandra NS as part of the PEACEPLUS Aspire initiative. They enjoyed a reading session at the library followed by a clay workshop at the Leitrim School of Art, where they created beautiful glazed pieces. It was a very enjoyable and educational day out for all the children. All the photos from the day can be found on the school website.

Stemtacular 2025

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) fair took place in the sports complex in Ballinamore on Thursday 27th February. The boys and girls in 4th, 5th & 6th class showcased seven projects that explored the following questions: What do we cry? Is “cracking” your fingers bad for you? How much sugar are children really consuming? How do wounds heal? Should we invest in solar panels? Why does hearing deteriorate with age? What is best design for paper airplanes? It was a wonderful event and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

World Book Day 2024

We celebrated World Book Day in St. Mogue’s on March 7th. Well done to all the children (and teachers!) who dressed up as characters from their favourite books. All of the costumes were excellent and showed fabulous creativity. ‘Buddy reading’ took place in the hall where the older children read to the younger children and listened to their reading.

Junior Educational Trip 2024

The junior room’s winter educational trip took place on St. Mogue’s Day (January 31st). The boys and girls had a wonderful day, that began with a boat trip to St. Mogue’s Island where they got a guided tour the island and the church remains by Aidan Brady. They then visited the holy water font in St Aidan’s church Bawnboy, which is said to be part of the flagstone that carried St. Mogue across the lake to be baptised by St. Caillin. The children ended their trip with a visit to Ballyconnell library for storytelling.
